1. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways:

• Account data: email address, name, and password hash when you register
• Usage data: transcription history, file metadata, and feature interactions
• Payment data: billing address and last 4 digits of card (processed by Stripe — we never see your full card number)
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, and session data for security and rate limiting
• Uploaded content: audio and video files you submit for transcription

2. How We Use Your Data

• To provide, maintain, and improve the transcription service
• To process payments and manage your subscription
• To send transactional emails (receipts, password resets, service notices)
• To enforce our Terms of Service and prevent abuse
• To analyze aggregate usage trends (no individual profiling)

3. Data Retention

Uploaded audio and video files are deleted from our servers immediately after transcription is complete. Transcript text is stored as long as your account is active. You can delete individual transcripts or your entire account at any time. Deleted data is purged within 30 days.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

• Stripe — for payment processing
• OpenAI — audio is sent to Whisper API for transcription (subject to OpenAI's data processing agreement; audio is not used to train models)
• Cloud infrastructure providers — for hosting, storage, and email delivery
• Law enforcement — only when required by law

5. Security

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256). We use industry-standard security practices. Our infrastructure is hosted in SOC 2 compliant data centers. We conduct regular security reviews.

6. Cookies

We use cookies to maintain your session and remember your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not function correctly.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access, correct, or delete your personal data
• Export your data in a portable format
• Opt out of marketing emails (unsubscribe link in every email)
• Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated by email at least 14 days in advance. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
